Invasion. Thoughts
The moonlit air beneath the spangled sky
Is soft and still as death –
Tense with excitement lashed to fever height
Earth holds her gasping breath.
The night of nights has come; down by the sea
Lie countless ships caressed by silver waves;
So lie dark coffins in a chapel’s vault
Waiting to bear the corpses to their graves.
Each heart beats proudly. In mysterious light
Looms large the murderous shore,
Where blood-stained fields will see the final fight
Of mankind’s greatest war.
Each heart beats madly. Mists like gloomy showers
Veil past and future in forgetfulness.
The world lies buried in the next few hours:
Hours of untold glory and distress.
But though this phantom voyage be their last
Which of them care?
Straining their every nerve, without a backward glance.
Forward they stare…
While watery streaks redden the eastern sky
Tearing the shroud that covers our crime
The loyal lights, which burn in each man’s eyes
Announce the fiery dawn of a new time. где можно взять займ без отказачастный займ тюменьзайм 5000
